THERE were more doubting Thomases than those who believed that the EC would be able to meet the deadline for the preparation of a final voter list with photographs. Not everyone realises what a tremendous achievement it has been, given that we have also got our national identification (NID) card, for all those that were involved in the process, right from its conceptualisation 'till its completion.

No 'ghost voters' found in Bangladesh Biometric voter list: UNDP

Dhaka, Dec 25 (bdnews24.com) — Bangladesh's photo-based voter list has received an "excellent rating" from an international audit team, which concluded that the list had a "high degree of accuracy" and "no 'ghost voters' were found on the 2008 photo voters list," says UNDP.

Fake votes near zero

The ninth parliamentary election saw  the highest ever voters in the history of Bangladesh with little possibility of fake votes having been cast due to the new system with a voter roll that had photographs to confirm one's identity, according to a report in the Daily Star report on the 31st December 2008.
